Privacy Policy

We collect the minimum we need to run the tools you use. Your letters, condition reports and account details are stored so they survive between visits — nothing else about your tenancy is. We never sell your data, and you can delete your saved content at any time.

• Account details — your email address and, if you add them, your name and profile details (phone, tenancy stage), plus login credentials managed by our account provider. Used to sign you in and personalise the tools, to perform our contract with you.
• Content you create — letters you save to your account, condition reports and photos you upload, and move-in checklist progress. Stored so you can come back to them and we can provide the tools you request.
• Purchase records — which products you bought and when, so paid features unlock on your account, including your membership status and renewal dates. Stripe processes payments, membership billing and refunds; we never see your full card details.
• Emails you request — when you ask us to email you a copy of a letter, report or prep pack, we send it to your account email.

We also process technical data such as IP address, device details, security logs and usage information to keep the service safe, diagnose problems and improve it. To apply daily question limits, we keep a count of questions asked each day against your account, or against a one-way hash of your IP address if you're not signed in; these counts don't contain your questions. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable service, or legal obligations where applicable. We use consent where required for non-essential cookies.

• Chat conversations stay in your browser session and end when you close it.
• Lease PDFs are read to answer your questions and are not stored after the session, unless you choose to save the resulting letter or review.
• Calculator inputs (lease dates, rent amounts, notice details) stay on your device.

RentFair uses AI models to generate plain-English answers, letters, reviews and prep packs. The text you provide — including uploaded lease content — is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to produce your result. Anthropic processes it to provide the service to us and does not use it to train its models. Knowledge-base content and cited sections of the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 (NSW) ground what it produces.

We don't sell personal information. We share it with service providers that run RentFair (hosting, AI processing by Anthropic, analytics where used, support and email delivery), Stripe for payments, membership billing and refunds, professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants, and authorities when the law requires it. Some of these providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States.

Your data is stored on a managed cloud service with appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls. Only you can see your saved letters, condition reports and photos through your signed-in account. No online service can promise absolute security.

• You can delete saved letters, condition reports and photos yourself inside the app.
• We keep account and saved content while your account is active, and purchase records as long as needed for legal, accounting and dispute purposes. When no longer needed, data is deleted or anonymised.

You can request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, and raise a privacy complaint, by emailing admin@rentfair.com.au. We handle requests under applicable Australian privacy law. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if your concern is not resolved.

Essential browser storage keeps your sign-in and session choices working. We count visits with Plausible Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or collect personal information. If we use analytics or marketing cookies in future, we'll give you a choice where required; you can also manage cookies in your browser settings. Disabling essential storage may affect sign-in and saved preferences.

If this policy changes we'll update this page and the date above. If a change meaningfully affects how we use your data, we'll make that clear.
